Several museums and memorial houses in Bucharest will be free to enter on Sunday, May 6. The Old Court, the Victor Babes museum, the Frederic Storck and Cecilia Cuţescu-Storck museum, the Astronomical Observatory and the Art collection "Pompiliu and Ligia Macovei" will be free to visit on Sunday, between 10:00 and 18:00.

The Royal Court (in picture), close to Unirii Square - on Franceza St., is the oldest medieval monument in Bucharest, and used to be the residence of the Walachian rulers. More about it here, on the Bucharest city hall website dedicated to the Romanian capital.

Victor Babes, a famous Romanian bacteriologist, wrote, together with Victor André Cornil, the first bacteriology treaty in the world, that laid the foundation for this branch of science. The Victor Babes museum is on 14A Andrei Muresanu St.

Frederic Storck was a Romanian sculptor, while his wife Cecilia was a painter. The museum bearing their name includes their works of art, as well as artistic furniture in wood and in stone, icons and traditional ceramics. The museum is on 16 Vasile Alecsandri St. (in the Romana square area).

Ligia and Pompiliu Macovei were art collectors of Romanian and foreign paintings and graphic, traditional works of art from various places in the world. Their memorial house is at 36-38, 11 Iunie St.

The Astronomic Observatory is on 21, Lascar Catargiu Blvd. (between Romana and Victoriei squares).
