Music, theater, and more to celebrate francophone day in Romania this year
Romania is celebrating Francophone culture this year through several events scheduled for capital Bucharest and numerous other shows across the country, planned around the March 20 Jour de la Francophonie. The celebrations started earlier this month, on March 5, when Belgian film directors Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne attended the special pre-screening of their most recent film, ‘Le Gamin au Vélo’ (The Kid with a Bike), at the Studio cinema in Bucharest.
On March 20, 18:00, is the ‘Francophone Gala’ at the National Museum of Art of Romania - Atrium Hall in Bucharest, under the GADIF patronage (Group Embassies, Delegations and Francophone Institutions). The event’s program includes the GADIF awards ceremony for francophone personalities in Romania and a ‘violoncellissimo’ concert supported by young musicians.
‘Le français, langue des affaires – un passeport pour l’avenir’ seminar will be organized on March 21 at the Academy of Economic Studies in the capital city, when different francophone personalities of political, economic, education areas will show how the French language can be an advantage in finding a job, in running different activities, or business development. On the same day, 18:00, the awards ceremony for the contest ‘Une photo + caption’ will be held at the French Institute in Bucharest.
On March 30, 19:00, Valonia-Bruxelles delegation in partnership with the French Institute, will present the performance ‘Les Chaises’ (The Chairs) by Eugene Ionesco, directed by Alain Bourgeois. The event will take place at Odeon Theater in the capital city.
‘Le français – le défi des temps modernes’ international colloquium will be organized in Romania’s Buzau between April 27 and April 28, 2012. Several other events are to be organized in other cities across the country, such as Braila, Breaza, Bacau, Oradea, Piatra Neamt, Satu Mare. See the program here.
