National Culture Day: Traditional music and poetry at the Romanian Athenaeum this January
The National Culture Day will be celebrated at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest on January 15.
The event, called La Portile Ceriului (At The Sky’s Gates), will include concerts of Romanian folk music singers Grigore Lese, Zamfira Muresan, and Mihai Moldovan. A group of Aromanians from Cogealac, Constanta county, folk musicians from the south-Oltenia region, and a vocal-instrumental group from Maramures will also sing their songs.
The concerts will alternate with lyrical moments held by Romanian actor Ion Grosu, who will read poems written by Romania’s most famous and influential poet – Mihai Eminescu (born on January 15, 1850).
The event is organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) in partnership with the George Enescu Philharmonic and the public television TVR.
Tickets will be available at the Romanian Athenaeum’s ticket office. The public can enter the location starting 18:45.
