National Museum of Natural History "Grigore Antipa" in Bucharest to be re-opened this July
The National Museum of Natural History "Grigore Antipa" in Bucharest, which was supposed to open its doors in late June after restoration and modernization works, will re-open no later than July 15. “If the museum will not be opened on June 30, when is the deadline, I decided for July 15 to be the deadline”, said Dumitru Murariu, the museum’s director.
The museum’s modernization works amounted to about EUR 13 million. The necessary funds were secured, in part, through a loan from the Ministry of Culture in 2006, from the Council of Europe Development Bank, and the rest from the state budget.
The modern "Grigore Antipa" museum will have five rooms where documentaries are going to be screened, 66 InfoTouch screens, 3D projection, plasma and interactive systems to present the exhibits. A coffee shop, two rooms for activities with children and a souvenir shop will also be organized within the museum.
The modernization works at the National Museum of Natural History “Grigore Antipa” started on January 5, 2009.
