NATO Secretary General: Romania is not at risk because of Russia

06 February 2015

Russia does not represent an immediate risk for Romania and Bulgaria, said Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General.

However, Russia’s aggressive actions target not only Ukraine, but also the Republic of Moldova and Georgia.

“There is no immediate threat, but the reason we are carrying out these exercises is to protect our East allies. Our actions are answers to the problems Russia has caused in the east, forcibly annexing a part of another country, such as Crimea, destabilizing East Ukraine, but also an answer to what we have seen in North Africa or the Middle East. The main goal for the future is to make sure that NATO will be able to protect us from these threats,” said Jens Stoltenberg, cited by local Mediafax.
