Nazi officer’s sword, on sale at auction in Romania
A sword that belonged to a German officer who was close to Hitler will be put up for sale on October 27, at an auction organised by Romanian auction house Artmark.
The sword is decorated with Nazi symbols such as the eagle in a specific Art Deco style. With a starting price of EUR 10.000, the item will be present in the “Great Romania, including a collection of arms” auction that will take place at Athenee Palace Hilton in Bucharest, starting 20:00.
The parade swords, specially created for diplomatic officers during the Third Reich, are considered to be some of the most valuable and rare swords produced in Hitler's Germany between 1933 and 1945.
The German officer’s sword is on display at Artmark until October 26.
Artmark will also have a watch auction on October 27. The auction features 88 pieces, the most expensive of which is a Breguet men's gold wristwatch appraised at between EUR 9,000 and EUR 15,000.
