Nearly 60,600 households in Romania still not connected to electricity

Romania would have to pay around EUR 211 million to connect the remaining 60,600 households to electricity, according to the development director of Electrica SA, Marian Geanta, quoted by Mediafax newswire. In the Romanian rural area 60,584 households in 2,100 villages are not connected to electricity.

In the areas served by Romanian Electrica SA and its subsidiaries there are 32,223 households without electricity, in 1,071 villages, while in areas where the private energy suppliers operate, like E. ON, CEZ and Enel, 28,361 households don't have access to electricity, in 1,029 villages.

The counties with the most households without electricity are Harghita, Alba and Caras-Severin, according to Marian Geanta.
