The net average income in Romania decreased by 0.5 percent in October compared to the previous month, to EUR 335 (RON 1,457), according to the Romanian National Statistics Institute (INS). On a year-on-year basis, the net average income increased by 8.7 percent. The gross nominal average earning was EUR 460 (RON 2,008) in October; EUR 2 (RON 9) lower than September.

The highest net salaries paid in October were in the IT services sector, while the lowest were in the hotel and restaurant segment.

Compared to July 2010, when public sector workers received a 25 percent cut from gross basic salaries as a reform measure, the average net earnings in October increased by 18.8 percent in health and social assistance, 11.8 in education, and by 10.5 percent in public administration.
