Net financial wealth in Romania, lowest in Central & Eastern Europe

Romania comes last in Central and Eastern Europe on the net financial wealth, which was 17 percent of the country’s GDP in 2013, according to a UniCredit report quoted by Capital.ro.

The financial net wealth per capita in Romania is of EUR 1,140, smaller than in Bulgaria – EUR 2,007.

The report also shows that over a third of the debt held by Romanians is made of housing loans – which represent 6 percent of the GDP. The rest of 62 percent of the debt is made of consumer loans – 11 percent of the GDP.

The report defines net financial wealth as the different between all the financial assets and all the financial debt. It includes deposits, state titles, company bonds and any kind of financial assets.
