Network One Distribution: TV sales drive Romania's electronic products market growth in 2011

12 March 2012

Romanians bought more TVs last year, driving turnover for Network One Distribution- formerly Asesoft Distribution- to EUR 200 million last year and supporting its growth expectations of 10 percent for this year.

TV sales brought 10 percent of this amount, the company announced. TV sets continued to be the growth engine on the local electronics and IT market in Romania last year, with a growth in sales of 17 percent, said Răzvan Ziemba, Director General Network One Distribution.

The company, which recently signed a deal with Philips to distribute their TV sets in Romania, expects a 16 percent increase in market share in the sector this year, compared to 11 percent last year.

Romanians took advantage of lower prices and their interest was captured by new technologies, like Smart TV or 3D. The availability of new technologies for smaller screen TVs, which have lower prices, is expected to support the growth of this market segment this year.

The local TV market is dominated by models HD Ready and Full HD with a 32 inch (81 cm) diagonal. Romanians tend to choose even bigger screens: 101 to 106 cm.

Network One Distribution wants to expand operations to Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine and Hungary by 2014. The company is currently active in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
