New departures terminal opening at Bucharest's Otopeni airport next week
A new departures terminal at Bucharest's International Airport will open next week on November 6 , after an investment of EUR 52 million. The new terminal should reduce the passenger congestion in the airport.
The terminal's main hall will house 22 counters operated by the airlines running flights in and out of the Henri Coanda Airport in Otopeni. All the usual ticketing and baggage handling services will be provided.
In March this year, passenger traffic at Bucharest's Otopeni airport increased by 45-47 percent after all passenger flights operating from Baneasa airport were moved to the main international airport.
To the 102 planes that took off on average every day from Otopeni were added 35 others operated by Blue Air and Wizz Air, which both previously used the Baneasa airport.
Henri Coanda International Airport is the largest airport in Romania and is now the only option for passenger airlines flying to and from Bucharest.
