Perfume and cosmetics retailer Douglas will open a shop in April of this year at the Palas Iasi mall, Iasi, Northern Romania. The store covers an area of 200 sqm and will sell a range of perfumes, care products and accessories, makeup and cosmetics.

Douglas has over 1,200 stores in 21 European countries. The firm entered the Romanian market in 2007 and has shops in Bucharest, Timisoara, Tirgu Mures, Constanta, Oradea, Baia Mare, Sibiu and Cluj-Napoca.

In 2010 the Douglas chain managed to post a profit in Romania for the first time since entering the local market in 2007. The company, under the name of Parfumeriile Douglas, made a profit of EUR 210,000 last year, after posting losses of more than EUR 300,000 a year both in 2009 and 2008.
