New heat wave causes traffic restrictions in Romania

02 August 2017

The new heat wave that Romania is experiencing this week may cause some traffic restrictions.

As the country’s Western half is under a code orange for heat and the other half is under a code yellow, the local railways company has decided to introduce speed restrictions for trains. Thus, the average train speed in Romania will be lower by 20-30 kilometer per hour compared to the normal one.

The National Roads Company – CNAIR may also temporarily restrict traffic for trucks over 7.5 tons to protect the local roads.

Daytime temperatures are expected to go up to 37-39 degrees Celsius during the day and will not fall under 20 degrees during the night in the next two days. The heat codes may also prolong over the weekend.
