New iPhone 5S arrives at online shops in Romania shortly after international launch and record sales

27 September 2013

Apple's new iPhone 5S, which features, among other improvements, a fingerprint reader, has been released in Romania soon after its international launch.

After posting record worldwide sales of 9 million units in its first weekend after launch, the new iPhone has become available in Romania too.

So far, the phone can be bought without a mobile subscription, as it has yet to be introduced into the telecom operators' offers.

Online shop evoMAG.ro sells the 16 GB Space Gray version for RON 4,499 (the equivalent of some EUR 1022), while the online shop Koyos.ro sells the same device at RON 4,199 (or some EUR 954).

Koyos.ro will soon start selling the other versions of the new phone, at prices between RON 2,836 and RON 5,399 (EUR 644 and EUR 1,227).

The new iPhone 5S has a new fingerprint identity sensor, a 64-bit A7 chip, an iSight camera, and LTE wireless.

It comes in three capacity options, 16GB, 32 GB and 64 GB, and in three colours, space gray, gold and silver. The prices are of USD 199, USD 299 and USD 399, as listed on Apple's website.

The iPhone 5C, another model of it, comes in six colours, and two capacity options, 16 and 32 GB. This phone has an A6 chip, and is cheaper: at USD 99 and USD 199 according to the producer's website.

This is our best iPhone launch yet―more than nine million new iPhones sold―a new record for first weekend sales,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

“The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible and while we’ve sold out of our initial supply of iPhone 5s, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough new iPhones for everyone.”
