A new shopping mall was inaugurated on Saturday (April 8) in Cluj-Napoca on the plot of the former Ursus beer factory.

It is part of a mixed-use project called Platinia, which also includes apartments, and the total investment amounted to EUR 25 million.

The project was developed by the local investor Vasile Puscas via the firms Florisal and Drusal. It includes a mall of 13,000 sqm with 50 stores, as well apartments that have already been occupied, and an apart-hotel.

Puscas said that he estimates that about three million people will visit Platinia Shopping Center in the first year. The project’s anchor will be the Belgian-Dutch retailer Mega Image, which has begun its expansion in the north-west of the country.

This is the third project developed by Puscas under the Platinia brand. Vasile Puscas is the son-in-law of Ioan Rus, a former interior minister in the Adrian Nastase cabinet and transport minister in the Victor Ponta government, according to local media.
