Belgian Delhaize Group's revenues, Mega Image supermarkets owner, increased in Romania, Greece and Indonesia in the first half of 2011 by 6.2 percent, to EUR 961 million, while the operating profit rose by 33.4 percent to EUR 27 million. Revenue growth in Romania and Indonesia was driven by new store openings and strong comparable store sales in Romania, according to the company.

At the end of the second quarter, Louis Delhaize owned a number of 82 stores in Romania, with 10 more than at the end of 2010. In the first quarter of 2011, Delhaize Group announced the acquisition of 100 percent of the retail company Delta Maxi Group, operating in five countries in the Balkan area.

At a group level Delhaize recorded revenues of EUR 10.2 billion in the first half, down 1.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
