New peasant markets in Bucharest, pending city approval
Bucharest could have several new peasant markets should the city’s counsellors decide so at a meeting scheduled for today.
These peasant markets would be exclusively open to individual farmers, or farmers’ organizations, and would be part of project aimed at promoting local fruits, vegetables and Romanian traditional products.
Each producer selling in the new markets would have to hold valid certificates, and will be exempt from paying taxes and fees for using the space. They will be able to sell fresh and canned fruits and vegetables, berries, honey, traditional products and handicrafts.
If approved, the Bucharest City Hall would have to find the best places to organize these markets.
