New Romanian mobile phone operator promises same number on different SIMs and calls on airplanes
New mobile virtual operator Enigma Systems, which will be launched on the local market next year, will be “fighting” to take customers from companies like Orange, Vodafone or Cosmote, and offer the possibility of having the same phone number on several sim cards, according to local news service Ziarul Financiar.
Mihai Eftimie, the owner of the company, said that anyone can have the same number on several sim cards and if the battery on one phone goes flat, conversations can be continued on a second phone. The operator will also test a platform to allow mobile phones to be used on airplanes without specialist equipment.
“From the launch of MMS and the video call in the past five years, no other service has been released on the local market. LTE (4G) is a new technology of access, not a new service”, he said.
The company will use the voice and data network of an existing operator, but will have their own equipment. Enigma Systems offers Mobile Virtual Network Operator Services (MVNO), for which the communication authority in Romania offered approval earlier this year.
