New rules in Romania on terminating mobile phone contracts without penalty

25 March 2016

Customers can terminate their mobile phone, internet, and TV cable contracts without paying penalties if the operator decides to change the contract’s terms unilaterally, according to Romania’s National Communication Authority ANCOM.

The company needs to notify the customers on its plans to change the contract terms via email, SMS or phone.

If the operator has changed the contract without informing the users about their rights to terminate the contract without penalties, ANCOM may take action, according to the National Communication Authority.
