No capital exits from Romania, banks stand on healthy ground, says Central Bank governor

Romania is not witnessing any capital exits and banks active in Romania, including Greek banks have good liquidity indicators, said Mugur Isarescu, the Romanian Central Bank (BNR) governor (in picture) in a press conference earlier today. The BNR reserves are increasing, he also said, while there is a tendency for interest rates to drop and signs of lending revival. However, since markets are sensible and react to rumors, increase in interest rates are also possible, said Isarescu. He also pointed out that market interest rates are still below the key interest rate in Romania.
