Nokia Romania will invest EUR 73 million in expanding its campus in Timisoara, where it is developing the biggest research and development (R&D) center in telecommunications in Romania.
The company will expand the campus on a total area of 27,000 sqm in the first half of next year. The investment will create 300 new jobs, 100 of which will be in the R&D teams and 200 in the service teams.
“We’ll invest more than EUR 70 million in this campus, and starting next year, all the Nokia employees will be here. I think this proves Nokia’s commitment to Romania,” said Nokia Romania general manager Raoul Ros.
The Nokia campus in Timisoara develops broadband wireless technologies that are applied in areas such as the Internet of Things, big data and new mobile communications technologies.
The company currently employees 1,300 people in its campus in Timisoara. Some 600 of them are engineers in the R&D center, which was inaugurated yesterday, whereas 700 are specialists at the global operating network center, opened in 2015.
