Novel event offers Romania's cyclists the chance to fly
The Bucharest Cycle Touring Club (TBB) and Romania's Light Aircraft Association have organized a rather novel event for bicycle enthusiasts who dream of flying. Taking place on September 1, the cyclists will set off from Piata Presei Libere at 08:00, then ride to Sirna Prahova Airfield, arriving around noon.
The participants will be met with a hearty serving of goulash and have the chance to take part in various social activities, including ping pong. A raffle will be held and ten winners will then have the chance to go for flight on microlight aircraft. The airfield is located near the village of Potigrafu, more or less half way between Bucharest and Ploiesti.
The Light Aircraft Association was set up in 2007 to promote recreational aviation with microlights and small aircraft. The Bucharest Cycle Touring Club organizes various events and promotes cycling as a green method of transport and a way to get fit.
