The number of delayed flights in Romania reached a record in the first half of this year. Some 505 flights took off over three hours later than their official departure time, which affected some 50,000 passengers, according to AirHelp, a company that specializes in getting refunds for passengers affected by cancelled or delayed flights.

AirHelp estimates that the compensations for passengers affected by flight delays in the first half should amount to some EUR 15.5 million. In the same period of 2017, only 213 flights were more than 3 hours delayed and the number of affected passengers was under 18,000, while the estimated compensations would have amounted to some EUR 5 million.
