Number of employees in Romanian SMEs to go up by 600,000
The Romanian Government wants to increase the number of employees in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by 600,000 over the next six years, according to the Government strategy until 2020, cited by local Digi24.
Entrepreneurs however say this goal will be difficult to achieve unless the labor taxes are cut, and reducing the social security tax (CAS) is not enough.
"The social taxes are high in Romania. For each employee that has a EUR 1,000 salary, I pay to the state EUR 1,000 taxes," said famous Romanian entrepreneur Ion Tiriac.
"To reduce unemployment one must reduce the tax burden on labor, abolish the minimum wage and make the contribution to the unemployment fund optional," said entrepreneur Octavian Badescu.
