Number of house building permits goes up in Romania
The number of house building permits increased by 3.1% in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year, reaching 18,300.
The number of building permits grew in three of Romania’s regions, including the South-East, North-East and South-Muntenia regions, whereas they dropped in the Bucharest-Ilfov area and the Central region and stagnated in the West region.
The municipalities issued over 4,100 permits for building residential houses in June, 61.3% of them in rural areas. The number increased by 12.6% compared to May and by 7.6% compared to June last year.
The construction sector has seen a significant recovery in the first part of this year, which was also visible in the results of the companies in this sector.
The construction work volume increased by 10% in the first five months compared to the same period of 2014, as the work on new buildings went up by 8%. Renovations and major repairs increased the most, by over 18%.
