Number of online banking users triples in Romania, but remains low
The number of users on online banking in Romania went up three times in the last three years, according to a study cited by automated banking machines provider Keba Romania.
The online banking user ratio grew from 2% to 6%, but Romania still ranks second-to-last in the region on this, before Serbia. In the Czech Republic, about 62% people use the online banking whereas in Austria, the percentage amounts to 55%.
Romanians use Internet banking mostly to check their accounts but prefer the self-service areas or the banking units for cash payments, deposits, or withdrawals.
