Number of serious accidents during May 1 mini-break down by a quarter

The number of serious accidents during the May 1 mini-break was down by a quarter this year, on the same period of last year, according to the Romanian Police. These resulted in 22 percent fewer people seriously injured, and a 64 percent lower death toll.

On Sunday, May 4, the Police sent 1,600 policemen on the main routes in Romania, as well as 400 speed measuring devices, targeting mainly the A1, A2 and A3 highways to Bucharest, as well as in the Vama Veche seaside resort and on DN1 and DN5.

Traffic was supervised on DN1 and the Sun Highway (A2) via helicopter.
