Number of overdue bank debtors reaches new record in Romania
The number of people with overdue debts of over 30 days to banks and non-banking financial institutions rose by over 2,800 in April compared to the previous month, reaching a total number of almost 729,000.
It was the highest level recorded after June 2013. About 740,180 people were registered with debts of over 30 days in June 2013.
The value of total debts also rose in April this year to EUR 2.55 billion, the maximum level of the last two years.
Of the total debts, the loans in euro had the highest value in April, namely over EUR 1.08 billion. The overdue debts in lei, with EUR 1 billion came next, followed by the debts in Swiss Francs, totaling EUR 472 million.
The outstanding debts of over 90 days had a total value of EUR 1.7 billion in April.
