Occupancy rate in Romania drops to 69.5% in Q4
The occupancy rate of the population aged 20-64 in Romania, an indicator that shows the economically active working-age population, declined in the fourth quarter of 2018 to 69.5% from 71.3% in the previous quarter, the National Statistics Institute (INS) showed.
Compared to the fourth quarter of 2017 (68.4%), however, the rate was slightly higher, although below the target set for 2020 (70%).
In 2017, the average occupancy rate increased to 68.8% from 66.3% in 2016, and in 2018 it has risen probably closer to the 70% target.
The occupancy rate was higher for men (72.7% vs. 56% for women) and urban people (65.9% vs. 62.7% in rural areas). The occupancy rate of young people (15-24 years) was 23.8%.
