One third of Belgium’s prisoners are illegal immigrants; almost 250 are Romanian

A prisoner of three is illegal in Belgium, up to a number of 3,215 people from a total of approximately 11,000 prisoners, of which 246 are Romanian, according to the Office for foreigners, quoted by 7sur7.be.

Out of the 3,215 prisoners that are illegally in Belgium, 67 percent, namely 2,155, are not listed in any register, while the others are listed in the foreigners register, are in the waiting register or in another register for temporary stays.

Most of these prisoners come from Maroc – 644, Algeria – 582, and Romania – 246.
