Online retailer: Romanians spend EUR 45 on average for a smartphone device with mobile subscription
Romanians spend on average RON 200 (or EUR 45) to purchase a smartphone, and usually opt for subscription packages, according to online retailer EuroGsm. They also tend to prefer the Android system for their mobile phones. When looking at full price phones, they have a budget of around RON 1,200 (the equivalent of some EUR 270), and their selection criteria include camera, screen size and storage.
"Among the best-selling smartphones in the EuroGsm network, 80 percent run on the Android system, the rest being accounted for by other operating systems, especially iOS, and Windows Phone or Blackberry. The average purchase budget is around RON 200 for phones bought on subscription, while for those purchased on the open market, the budget ranges between RON 1,000 and RON 1,200, "said Zoltan Halmai, commercial director of EuroGsm.
The most popular smartphone running on Android is Samsung Galaxy, and Romanian clients choose it for its brand reputation and attractive price.
The most sold Android smartphones within the EuroGsm network are Nivo Orange, Samsung Galaxy Young, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S3 Acer Liquid Mini and Z2.
The most expensive Android smartphone in the company's offer is HTC One Dual SIM, which costs RON 3499.9 (or some EUR 800) and the cheapest LG Optimus Net, which is priced at RON 319.9 (or some EUR 70), both available without a subscription.
