Only 8% of Romania’s population use e-commerce

29 August 2014

Only 8% of Romania’s population is currently using electronic commerce, or e-commerce, while the European target is of 47%, according to Diana Voicu, State Secretary within the Ministry for Information Society.

“We need to develop more action plans to increase the volume of electronic commerce in Romania, from the actual level of 8% to the European target of 47%. Electronic commerce is particularly important for a country’s development because it facilitates the purchase of cheaper products, more diversified, the costs with traditional transport dropping significantly, by using drones,” said Diana Voicu, cited by local Agerpres.

Also, only 5% of Romania's population uses e-government services, but the target is of 35%.
