Only a third of Romania uses e-Governance services
Almost a third of Romania's population currently uses e-Governance services, while the European average stands at 40%, according to the National Strategy for Romania's Digital Agenda for 2014-2020.
e-Governance represents the public sector’s use of information and communication technologies with the aim of improving information and service delivery.
"Even though Romania has made some major progress compared to two years ago, it went down 15 places in the ranking of the e-governance world development between 2010 and 2012 ", reads the document, cited by local Economica.net.
The index is calculated based on three factors: online services, telecom infrastructure and the human capital index.
Two specialized institutions called the Agency for the Digital Agenda, and the Technical Economic Commission have been created to oversee all the implementations related to the Digital Agenda in Romania.
