Opposition submits no-confidence motion, one year after similar move dismissed Govt.
The Social Democratic Party (PSD) members of the Romanian Parliament, along with the Conservative Party (PC) Alliance (in opposition), and the National Liberal Party (PNL - in opposition) submitted the motion of no-confidence against the Boc Government. The document is named 'The No-Confidence Motion of Majority Romania, People's Motion.'
It is signed and endorsed by 209 parliamentarians of the PSD+ PC and the PNL groups and the motion of no-confidence was proposed for voting in the plenary meeting on October 27. The due dates and procedures are yet to be established.
The Government led by Emil Boc – which is now at its fourth form, after a reshuffle earlier this year – went through a vote of no confidence same time last year. The motion passed and the then Government was dismissed, but after Traian Basescu was re-elected as president and after several failed attempts to name a new prime minister, Emil Boc was again chosen to lead the Government.
