Orange posts slightly lower sales in first quarter in Romania

Telecom operator Orange posted sales of EUR 220 million in the first quarter of the year in Romania, slightly down from the EUR 222 million from the same quarter of 2011. The mobile telephony operator lost 187,000 customers during this period, compared to the end of 2011, to some 10 million clients in total.

Orange Romania had 3.1 million clients for broadband mobile Internet services, up from Q1 in 2011, but slightly down from the end of 2011.

Group wide, France Telecom, Orange's parent company saw its revenues down 1.8 percent, to EUR 10.9 billion, while its profit before taxes was also down, to EUR 3.43 billion, from EUR 3.67 billion.
