Orange Romania's revenues down 6% in the first quarter
Telecom company Orange Romania recorded in the first quarter of 2011 revenues of EUR 222 million, down 6 percent compared to the same period in 2010, according to financial the results presented by majority shareholder France Telecom group.
According to the company's representatives, the increase in inflation in February over the expected level, emphasized the decline in consumption not only on the telecom market, but in other areas, Orange's results being comparable with those of other companies in different industries in Romania.
On March 31, 2011, Orange Romania had 10.3 million customers, down 5 percent from the same period last year. Its PrePay customer base continued to decrease, while the number of subscribers increased from the first quarter of 2010. The average annual revenue per user was of EUR 82.7. The broadband segment continued its positive development, Orange reaching over 3.1 million broadband customers and planning to develop this segment.
Orange Romania posted last year revenues of EUR 973 million, down 7.8 percent from 2009. At the end of 2010, Orange had 10.5 million customers.
