Orange had 10.17 million clients in Romania at the end of 2015, some 360,000 fewer compared to December 2014. The number of subscribers, however, increased by 4%, according to the company's report. The Orange TV service had more than 275,000 subscribers, posting a 75.4% increase on the previous year.
The 4G internet mobile traffic was six times higher in 2015, compared to 2014, the evolution being supported by a double number of 4G terminals in the network on a comparable basis. Smartphone and tablet sales increased significantly in 2015 compared to 2014. Orange has the highest 4G coverage in Romania, reaching 96% of the urban population and 72% of the total population.
“2015 was a successful year for Orange Romania, which included premieres on both the local market and at a group level. 2016 is expected to be as dynamic, market trends showing an increased appetite for 4G and access to entertainment on all types of screens as well as a growing interest in converged services and the prepaid service users’ switch to subscriptions,” said Jean-Francois Fallacher, CEO Orange Romania.
At a group level, Orange’s revenues amounted to EUR 40.2 billion in 2015, relatively stable compared to the previous year. The group's main competitors in the local market are Vodafone, Telekom, and RCS&RDS.
