Organizer: Romania’s capital lacks the venue for an international auto show
An international auto show might be organized again in Bucharest, but at the moment Romania’s capital doesn’t have a venue for such an event, according to Thierry Hesse, executive director Paris Motor Show.
“There are still talks with members of the Automobile Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA), but there is a problem in Bucharest related to the place where we can organize such an event. Romexpo is not a choice because work there is not completed yet, and it can’t be organized at Romaero either,” Hesse told local Ziarul Financiar.
Hesse runs the company that organizes the Paris Motor Show, one of the most important auto shows in the world with over one million visitors. He also organized the last international auto show in Bucharest (SIAB) in 2007.
The Romanian Automobile Manufacturers and Importers Association has been supporting the Bucharest Auto Show which was organized in recent years with car dealers, not importers and producers. This event is more focused on special offers and discounts and less on the launch of new models, as it is a sales event.
