Outdoor Cinema event brings the best in independent film to Bucharest and six other Romanian cities

This summer cities around the country will hold open air screenings for the Outdoor Cinema festival from July 10 to September 16 in central areas and parks. The event, running in Bucharest July 24 to July 29 and August 14 and September 2, will show ten independent films over six days and is on in six other cities apart from the capital.

The program includes both international and Romanian productions that have featured in recent film festivals. Audiences across the country will be able to watch three successful recent films by Romanian directors – 'Loverboy' (directed by Catalin Mitulescu, Romania, 2011 , 'La source des femmes' (directed by Radu Mihaileanu, Belgium-Italy co-production, 2012 - in official competition at Cannes 2011, nominated for a Cesar in 2012) and 'the Phantom Father' (directed by Lucian Georgescu, Romania, 2011 - films in competition at the Festival Montreal).

Selected films from the event will also be shown at the B'ESTFEST music festival (Bucharest, 6-8 July).

Admission to each screening is free, but a maximum of 800 seats are available. The organizers claim that the most up to date equipment for outdoor screenings will be used and promise a spectacular experience, with a 120 m2 screen, 17,000 lumen projector and state of the art Dolby sound.

The other cities hosting the event are Brasov (July 10-July 15), Constanta (July 17-July 22), , Timisoara (July 31-August 5), Cluj (August 7 to August 12 ), Iasi (September 4 to September 9) and Craiova (September 11 to September 16). Screenings will be at 21:00 and 23:00.

The Cultural Association Metropolis is organizing the Outdoor Cinema event, with support from Vodafone Romania.
