Over 125,000 tourists spending weekend on Romanian seaside

30 August 2010

More than 125,000 tourists have spent their weekend in resorts on the Romanian Black Sea shore, but hotel operators expect their numbers to swell by a few more thousand. According to data from the "Litoral-Delta Dunarii" Association, on Friday night 126,525 tourists were officially registered with accommodation units in resorts on the Black Sea coast. The real figure should be higher, as these statistics do not consider people lodged in private homes or camps.

The busiest resort is Mamaia, with 39,060 tourists, followed by Neptun, with 35,622 tourists, and Navodari, with 13,572 officially registered tourists. Around 30,000 people are in Eforie, Techirghiol, Costinesti and Mangalia. Also, some 10,000 tourists chose Vama Veche as their weekend destination.

The least popular destinations are Tuzla (75), 23 August (120) and Constanta (864). Many of the people vacationing in these towns find accommodation with locals, so they are not counted in official statistics.
