Over 1,900 people convicted in Romania for corruption in five years
A total of 1,927 people were convicted for corruption in Romania since 2009, over 1,600 of them being men, according to statistics presented by Romanian judge Cristi Danilet, member of the Superior Council of Magistracy, cited by local Hotnews.ro.
In this period, 350 people were convicted for taking bribes and 342 for giving bribes.
A total of 187 people were convicted for corruption in 2009, the number increasing to 242 in 2010, 438 in 2011, 564 in 2012 and 496 in 2013.
