Over 80 Romanian villages and towns flooded, almost 250 people evicted last weekend
The heavy rain in recent days has flooded several counties in Romania over the last weekend.
A total of 86 villages and towns were flooded and 248 people were evicted on Saturday and Sunday from the counties under hydrological alerts, according to Interior Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Gabriel Oprea.
On Saturday and Sunday, employees of the Interior Ministry (MAI) intervened in over 2,200 emergencies, of which 176 were reported in the counties affected by the flooding. Also, out of the 1,663 medical interventions, 372 were conducted in the counties affected by the heavy rain.
According to Oprea, other 188 actions of MAI employees focused on evacuating the water from households, 14 - on strengthening dams and four - on giving drinking water supplies.
