Germany became one of the destinations preferred by Romanian tourists.

Last year, Romanians made a total of 583,000 trips to Germany and spent over 637,000 nights in the country, up 14 percent year-on-year, according to data from the German National Tourist Board - DZT.

The most popular regions in Germany for Romanian tourists are: Bayern, Baden-Württemberg, Hessen, Nordrhein-Westfalen and Berlin.

On average, a Romanian tourist spends EUR 558 per trip, 15 percent less than in the previous year.

The number of trips to Germany from Balkan countries reached 1.9 million per year, but is expected to double by 2020.
