Overdue loans reach 9 percent of total loans in Romania

Romanians' overdue loans grew by 4.7 percent in June compared to May this year, reaching EUR 4.6 billion and a total weight of 9 percent in the volume of loans, according to data released by the Romanian Central Bank (BNR).

The weight of the overdue loans was of 8.9 percent at the end of May, while at the end of last year, it stood at 7.7 percent. The biggest weight was recorded for the loans in Romanian currency 0 with 10.9 percent of those loans, while for foreign currency, overdue loans covered 7.9 percent.  Romanians – individuals and companies – had EUR 51.3 billion of loans at the end of June, slightly up on the end of May.
