(P) Rebranding and a new concept regarding use of space for EY in the Bucharest Tower Center office

02 July 2013

Starting with 1 July 2013, Ernst & Young is going through a major global rebranding process through which the company redefines its name, logo and tagline. Thus, Ernst & Young becomes EY, the logo is modified in response to this change and the company's new tagline becomes "Building a better working world". This redefinition of visual identity comes to reflect the company’s new strategy, Vision 2020.

Bogdan Ion, Country Managing Partner, EY Romania explains, "EY wants to build, along with its employees and business partners, an environment based on trust, sustainability and leadership. Therefore, it is important for us to deliver the highest quality services and contribute to rebuilding confidence in the capital markets and in economies around the world. At EY, we develop a generation of outstanding business leaders that bring sustainable results to society. This way, we want to build a better working world, one that is more responsible and collaborative for our 167,000 EY employees, our customers and the communities we work in all around the world."

The EY strategy for the coming years, until 2020, includes a number of specific objectives:

  • Professional services to customers in 140 countries, in order to increase their business and improve their performance, thereby increasing living standards and opportunities in local economies.
  • Supporting entrepreneurs to bring to market their products and ideas through the global Entrepreneur Of The Year program and services dedicated to entrepreneurs.
  • Develop a new generation of leaders, to contribute further into key roles in companies, in the public sector or the academic sector.
  • Transparent and timely information, leading to increased confidence in capital markets around the world and improving their effectiveness.
  • Social responsibility programs to support the development of the communities where EY is present.

In Romania, the rebranding is accompanied by moving to a new headquarters in Bucharest Tower Center, where the company will occupy the top 5 top floors of the building, between the17th and the 22nd floor. The new facility was specially designed to enable the implementation of an innovative concept of work and use of space that fosters collaboration, flexibility and responsible use of resources.

The concept, named Workplace of the Future, will gradually be implemented by EY worldwide, at present being operational in the U.S. and in several major markets in the world. Romania is the first country in Central and South-Eastern Europe, where the company applies this new way of using the working space.

The new EY office in Bucharest will include mobile work stations to accommodate employees with flexible work programs, informal meeting spaces and IT solutions to stimulate collaboration and connectivity between teams from Romania, employees traveling outside the office and those in other countries.

As generation Y, those who were educated in the 2000’s and grew in an environment with rapid cultural changes, gains a growing share in the number of employees – EY Romania average age of employees is 30, EY tries to meet their needs and expectations of flexibility in working time and space, virtual collaboration and interaction.

Also, the company’s internal policies and logistic instruments have been redefined to replace physical archives and materials with virtual ones, optimizing use of physical space. All these measures will contribute at increasing the performance of both our teams and our professionals. These are fundamental changes in the way we work, which come to meet the completely different style we communicate and exchange information today.

"Because technology is changing very rapidly and employees’ expectations are evolving, we have redefined how and where we work. Therefore, we move to a new level of collaboration based on sharing and adaptability. By adopting this concept, we meet the need of our customers for flexibility and responsiveness, but also the need of our employees to work in a friendly and open environment. Countries that have implemented this concept registered higher rates of customer satisfaction, collaboration, performance, and employee engagement and wellbeing", concludes Bogdan Ion.
