Paganini theater show's world premiere might draw big Hollywood names to Romania
Several Hollywood stars might arrive in Bucharest this spring for the world premiere of the Paganini show, directed by Scottish Mick Davis.
The director himself invited some big names, such as well-known actors Chris Noth, Andi Garcia, Mickey Rourke and Al Pacino, for the May 27 premiere at the Metropolis Theater in Bucharest.
Davis said in an interview for Mediafax newswire that he chose Nicolo Paganini for his show because he was fascinated by his music and his reputation. The famous musician also bear the nickname“the devil’s violinist.” The Scottish director said he thought of him as a rock star like Mick Jagger and Jim Morrison.
The Paganini show focuses on the life of Niccolo Paganini, one of the greatest violinists in the history of music. The main character will be played by Romanian actor Tudor Aaron Istodor, the cast also including actors such as Elvira Deatcu, Gelu Nitu, Vlad Logigan, Meda Victor and Mircea Albulescu.
Mick Davis also directed Modigliani, a film about the life of the famous painter Amedeo Modigliani. The Scottish director is engaged to Romanian actress Ana Adelaida Perjoiu. He is currently working on five TV series, and on three feature length movies in the US.
