The Tarancuta cu fuior painting signed by Romanian painter Nicolae Grigorescu sold for EUR 85,000 at the Spring Auction recently organized by the Artmark auction house. It is the most important result of the 2015 Romanian art market so far, according to Artmark.

Nicolae Tonitza came second in the top, with Cap de copil, a painting that sold for EUR 58,000.

Other artworks were sold for high prices, such as Theodor Pallady’s Nud in fotoliu rosu – EUR 17,000, Costum cu motive pastorale by Georgeta Naparus – EUR 11,000, Deal by Horia Bernea – EUR 10,000 and Nicolae Darascu’s Piata din Tulcea – EUR 10,000.

Artmark’s Sprin Auction registered total sales of over EUR 400,000, with an awarding rate of 80%. The auction house will organize other auctions on May 26 and May 28, at Athenee Palace Hilton in Bucharest.
