Unhappy with the diagnosis, the parents of a child admitted at Marie Curie Children’s Hospital in Bucharest attacked the doctor who gave them the news, and are now investigated by the police. The doctor needed medical attention after suffering an eye injury.

“This case was not about a child with a severe health problem, but his parents were unhappy with the care and answers the doctor gave them and became extremely aggressive,” doctor Mihaela Balgradean, head of the pediatric nephrology department at Marie Curie Hospital, told local Digi24.

“It was a diagnosis of respiratory disease, not very serious, but the parents were convinced that the diagnoses should had been more severe,” she added.

The doctor in question filed a complaint with the police, which are now investigating the case. Under the law, those who threaten medical staff risk prison sentences of up to two years or a fine, while those who hit or commit any other acts of violence against medical staff can get a sentence of up to three years. Moreover, the prison sentence for personal injury offence can go up to six years, while the one for serious personal injury can reach 12 years.
