The Petromidia Refinery in Romania processed over 5 million tons of raw materials in 2014, a historical record for the company. The refinery operated at peak capacity last year, without any scheduled or accidental halts.

The total quantity processed by the refinery since 1979 – the year when the refinery became functional – exceeded 100 million tons, the company announced.

“In over 35 years of existence, Petromidia refinery processed over 100 million tons of raw material (95.7 million tons of crude oil), the largest quantity of oil processed by a Romanian refinery. Over 32% of this quantity was processed over the past seven years (2007-2014),” reads a company statement.

Rompetrol Rafinare, the company which owns the Petromidia refinery, is controlled by KazMunayGas, the state oil company in Kazakhstan.
