The pilot of the Romanian helicopter which crashed at the end of November in Sibiu county died on Monday, December 8, in spite of the doctors’ efforts to save him, the Romanian Ministry of Defense announced.

Captain-commander Corneliu-Gabriel Tatiana was one of the two survivors of the helicopter crash which killed eight Romanian soldiers, on November 21. The doctors performed several operations on him, but couldn’t save his life, as he suffered severe burns.

Tatiana, 46, was married and father of two. He was patrol commander of the 713 Helicopter Squadron in the Campia Turzii military base and had more than 1,300 flight hours.

The crash is currently being investigated by the military prosecutors.
